Data centres are relatively new in Malaysia, says global sustainability consultancy firm ERM. — Reuters

MALAYSIA has a strong positioning and allure when it comes to housing data centres in South-East Asia, says global sustainability consultancy company ERM country managing partner Seng Kee Wong.

He points to the country’s proximity to important business markets, such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, as well as available infrastructure for data centre operations, established and competitive utilities, and use of fibre optic cables.
