PUTRAJAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun apologised for the confusion over a report on the dropping of the 'race' column in government official forms that had no value added.

He said in a statement that the matter was discussed at the Cabinet meeting but no decision was taken.

The newspaper which published the report did not reflect accurately the statement he had made yesterday, he said.

"The inaccurate report has caused anxiety in the society," he said in a brief statement.

Entulu said at a press conference here on Wednesday that the Cabinet had decided to drop the 'race' column in government official forms that had no valued added.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, however, said in Taiping, Perak, on Thursday that the Cabinet did not make a decision on the matter.

Najib was also reported to have said that there was no change in the existing policy or practice with regard to the matter. - Bernama
