KUALA LUMPUR: Putrajaya will look at other companies to oversee the renewal of working permits for foreign workers, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said.

"The Government is looking at alternatives to MyEG under the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) but it is not implemented yet," he told reporters at Parliament House on Wednesday.

Wan Junaidi said the government was looking at alternatives to avoid a monopoly.

He said in 2012, many companies had presented their products and MyEG was found to have the best capabilities to perform the operations as required by the Government.

MyEG became the target of continued complaints due to complications in the implementation of the government's online services platform for the issuance of foreign worker permits.

A large number of the complaints were directed to MyEG's RM38 fee for online renewal of work permits
