Police quiz seven Bersih 4 organisers on donations

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersih 4 rally organisers were questioned by Bukit Aman police on the donations received, events leading up to and during the rally.

Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah said she and six others were also questioned on the contents of media statements made, the launch of the rally on Aug 14, the committee members, preparations for the rally and  dispersal of it.

"They asked about the donations, how much we have in the account, did we advertise on social media (to collect the donations) and how we will utilise it," Maria told reporters outside Bukit Aman on Wednesday.

The others included deputy chairman Sarajun Huda, treasurer Masjaliza Hamzah, committee members Farhana Halim and Fadiah Nadwa, secretariat member Mandeep Singh and student activist Adam Adli.

Present were 10 lawyers including Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan, Ramkarpal Singh and Lateefa Koya.

They were questioned from 10.30am and the meeting with the police ended at about 1pm.

Maria said they did not answer all the questions posed by the police.

"We exercised our rights not to answer many of the questions including on the donations," she said

All seven came voluntarily after learning that the police were looking to question them.
