Mufti: It was just a suggestion

GEORGE TOWN: The suggestion to stop the use of loudspeakers in mosques and surau in Penang except for azan was only a proposal and not a fatwa (edict), said Penang Mufti Datuk Dr Wan Salim Mohd Noor.

He said the Penang Fatwa Committee did not issue any ban but proposed that loudspeakers not be used for recording of Quran recitals before the azan and sermons.
