Tengku Idaura: Gunshots heard at the Penang Botanical Gaedens are noise pollution not mere annoyances.

IT’S ironic that many visit the Penang Botanic Gardens to de-stress, relax and enjoy their tranquillity, only to jump out of their skin every time a gun is fired at the shooting range nearby, laments Datuk Tengku Idaura Tengku Ibrahim, president of the Friends of the Penang Botanic Gardens Society.

It is noise pollution, she says – the loud gunshots cannot be dismissed as a mere disturbance or annoyance.
