PASIR GUDANG: As a young boy who escaped the communist threat with his family and lived a hard life, retiree Bachok Nohong can’t express enough his appreciation for the peace and harmony the country enjoys today.

The head of Kampung Pasir Putih here said when he was seven, he and his family had to flee the communists in Kampung Lepau, Penge­rang, to Pasir Gudang by boat.
