Squalid Ayer Molek lockup needs urgent reform


PETALING JAYA: Urgent reform is needed to change the inhumane conditions at Ayer Molek Police lockup in Johor Baru, said the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam).

In a statement, Suhakam chairman Tan Sri Razali Ismail said the conditions of cells at the lockup were “extremely poor, with decaying flooring and dilapidation in most cells, following a visit by the commission officials on July 31.
