KUALA LUMPUR: The late Puan Sri Lee Kim Hua was a very loving mother to her six children although she was a strict disciplinarian, according to her youngest son.
The discipline she instilled in her children will remain her lasting legacy, said Datuk Lim Chee Wah.
"She was very firm but also fair. The discipline she embedded in us helped us immensely, especially in the later years as we shaped our own lives and handled our own children," the VXL Group chairman said at the funeral wake here Sunday.
Lim said his mother always told her children to work hard.
"She didn't involve herself in business. She was just a wonderful homemaker," he said.
He described Lee as a quiet, humble, and unassuming woman, and a keen singer.
"She loved to sing karaoke. She had a singing group with her friends, it was an activity she truly enjoyed. Even until the end!" he said, adding that the children would put on Lee's favourite songs for her to enjoy.
The second day of Lee's wake, meanwhile, continued in a sombre mood.
Friends, family members, and business associates continued to stream into her Taman Duta home since morning to pay their respects.
Among those who came were Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar, Berjaya Corp Bhd founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan, Tropicana Corp Bhd founder and adviser Tan Sri Danny Tan, YTL Corp managing director Tan Sri Francis Yeoh and his son Joshua Yeoh, former MCA president Tan Sri Tan Koon Swan, MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong, and Toh Puan Ena Ling who is the wife of former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik.
Lee, the wife of the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong who was the founder of Genting Group, died on Friday at the age of 88.
The wake will end on Monday. Lee's funeral, which is scheduled on Tuesday, will be a private affair.
