KUALA LUMPUR: The lack of water retention ponds and debris traps at a project site were identified as likely cause of the flash flood that hit the Federal Highway on Monday.

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said that initial investigations revealed that the heavy downpour between 1pm and 4pm on Monday (Oct 30) had caused excess water and mud from the project to flood a stretch of the highway.
