CEP meets ex-MACC boss Abu Kassim, Azmin Ali, TM chairman and FGV top brass

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohammed has met with the Council of Eminent Persons.

Abu Kassim was seen entering Ilham Tower at 11.50am on Friday where the meeting was held, but did not speak to media personnel waiting outside.

Earlier, Telekom Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Dr Sulaiman Mahbob met the council.

Dr Sulaiman, who is also former acting chairman of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGVH), was spotted leaving the building at 11.36am but did not speak to the media either when approached.

Also meeting the council Friday was FGVH chairman Datuk Wira Azhar Abdul Hamid.

Earlier, Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali was seen entering the building at about 9.50am.

Others due to meet the council on Friday are officers from the Inland Revenue Board, National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), Higher Education Department, the ICU in the Prime Minister's Department on BR1M, the Economics Department and Bank Negara monetary policy section.

The council, headed by Tun Daim Zainuddin, comprise Tan Sri Robert Kuok, Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Tan Sri Hassan Marican and Prof Jomo Kwame Sundaram.

On May 12, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced the setting up of the council to help the government shape policies and programmes in order to fulfil Pakatan Harapan's promises to the rakyat.

Since its inception, the council has held over 50 meetings with senior government officials, GLCs and NGOs.
