Shooting in Penang, man suffers multiple gunshot wounds

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 23-year-old businessman survived a shooting incident at the Jalan Kulim traffic light junction in front of the Taman Sentosa food court here, and was rushed to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital this morning.

In the incident at about 11.15am on Saturday, the victim was on his way home in Machang Bubok after he left the food court where he had met a friend earlier.



Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the victim, upon stopping at the traffic light junction, was shot at by a suspect in a ski mask.

The victim suffered three gunshot wounds, while the suspect is believed to have escaped in a car.

Police are now searching for the suspect, and ACP Nik Ros Azhan has urged eyewitnesses to come forward and assist investigations by calling their nearest police station.
