KUALA LANGAT: A 57-year-old woman was stabbed and strangled to death by her 28-year-old colleague at their workplace on Wednesday (July 11) afternoon.

Zaimah Mahmod - who was an administrative assistant at the Telok Datok Vocational Training College in Banting here - was found dead in the storeroom of the institution's administration office, said Kuala Langat police chief Supt Azizan Tukiman.

He added that Zaimah died at the scene due to serious wounds on her neck and body, saying that the wounds are believed to have been inflicted with a knife.

Zaimah had worked at the college for the last 18 years, while her 28-year-old assailant began working there three months ago, he said.

Supt Azizan said that the colleague - who was receiving treatment for stress at the Banting District Hospital - had called the police and admitted to killing Zaimah.

He had alleged Zaimah always teased him of having an affair with another staff member even though he had denied the matter.

The suspect was taken into custody and Supt Azizan said the matter was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The victim's remains were sent to the Banting District Hospital for a post-mortem.
