RFID to be used for tolls by January

New system: When the RFID system comes into use in January, motorists can still use the SmartTAG devices as well as the Touch ‘n Go cards.

KUALA LUMPUR: Touch ’n Go and key highway concessionaires expect to roll out the RFID (radio frequency identification) system for toll payment across all highways in the country starting January next year.

The system uses a sticker embedded with an RF chip pasted on the vehicle.
