PETALING JAYA: As the Malaysian population is expected to increase to 32.4 million this year, the national fertility rate is projected to decline to the lowest level ever recorded since the formation of Malaysia 55 years ago.
For every 1,000 population, there are only 15.8 live births expected this year compared to 16.1 in 2017, noted Malaysia’s Selected Demographic Indicator 2018.
