KUALA LUMPUR:  The MCA nominations sprang two surprises when it closed at 5pm on Monday (Oct 15).

There is no contest for the entire Wanita national line-up of 31 elected posts - chairman, deputy chairman, four vice-chairmen and 25 central committee members.

Incumbent chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie was returned unopposed.

The new Wanita deputy chairman is Wong You Fong and the four vice chairmen are Wang Kim Lean, Lim Nget Yoon, Chiew Hong Lan and Pamela Yong.

Meanwhile, the MCA president's post, which was widely expected to be a straight fight between Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and Gan Ping Sieu, has turned into a three-cornered fight when Ngoo Teck Keong joined the fray.

Ngoo, in his early 30s, is from the Beruas MCA division in Perak.

It is a straight fight between Datuk Tee Siew Kiong and Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon for the deputy president's post.

There are also contests for the posts of four vice-presidents and 25 central committee members.

The posts of Youth chairman, deputy chairman, four vice chairmen and 25 central committee members will also see contests.

The Youth chairman's post, as expected, is a straight fight between Nicole Wong Siaw Ting and Ng Kian Nam.

The party polls will take place on Nov 4.
