Dr M: Malaysia's south Thai peace efforts go beyond mere treaties

BANGKOK: Efforts to resolve unrest in south Thailand show that there is real co-operation between Malaysia and Thailand which goes beyond drawing up treaties.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the efforts to facilitate peace talks between the Thai government and Mara Patani – an umbrella body representing militant groups in southern Thailand – is an opportunity to display the friendship between Malaysia and its northern neighbours.
