Sarawak keen to raise minimum marriage age to 18

SIBU: Sarawak is in favour of raising the minimum age of marriage to 18 because children – both boys and girls – should enjoy the rights to basic education of up to Form Five, says the State Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah.

She said the state government had discussed the matter even before Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad spoke about it.
