JOHOR BARU: A cleaner and her male friend were found dead with slash wounds on their back and neck on the third-floor of a flat in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Skudai near here.

The victims were identified as K. Kamala, 59, and S. Silvaraja, 51, and their bodies were discovered by Kamala’s 33-year daughter who just came back from work in Singapore at around 9am on Thursday (Nov 1).

According to Johor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Kamarudin Md Din, Kamala’s body was found in a bedroom while Silvaraja’s in the living area of the unit.

“We believe the murder took place around midnight (Nov 1) and we are still investigating the case and the motive behind the killing,’’ he said in a press conference at the crime scene.

DCP Kamarudin said initial investigation showed that more than two suspects were involved in the case, adding police believed the victims and the suspects knew each other.

He said that investigation on the case would look at all angles and aspects including whether it involved robbery, debt or revenge.

“Based on the injuries on the victims, we believed they were killed using a parang and we are now looking for the suspects to assist us with investigation,’’ said DCP Kamarudin.

The bodies have been sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for post-mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
