KOTA KINABALU: Rafizi Ramli took a razor-thin, three-vote victory over his arch-rival Datuk Seri Mohd Azmin Ali in their race for the deputy presidency at the reconvened polling centre for Keningau PKR.
Unofficial results showed Rafizi took 624 votes, while Azmin received 621 votes, with turnout at less then 40%.
Keningau PKR which has 6,441 voters was ordered to re-vote following a Nov 3 fracas between the supporters of Azmin and Rafizi.
In the published Nov 3 results in Keningau, Azmin won with 381 votes while Rafizi received 203.
Sabah PKR election coordinator Rosli Masaliku said that polling went smoothly with no untoward incidents.
The official results for Keningau should be out in a day or two, he said.
Rafizi had lodged a police report following the fracas, saying he was assaulted, while his rivals claimed that he barged into the polling station.
After last weekend’s election results from 21 of the 25 Sabah PKR divisions, Azmin has a lead of over 1,000 votes in Sabah.
The Tawau division will be holding re-poll on Sunday (Nov 11), while PKR members who registered to vote but could not vote on Nov 4, will be allowed to cast their votes on Sunday.
