IPOH: Some 9,000 civil servants in Perak will receive special payments in two instalments, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

He said this was as a tribute to the commitment and dedication of the civil servants, and the payment would be done under special financial assistance.

He said they would receive one month’s salary or a minimum of RM2,000, paid in two instalments, at the end of December and May next year.

“The special payment will also be extended to, among others, temporary teachers, Islamic kindergarten teachers under the state religious department, village chiefs and Tok Batin who will
receive RM1,000 in two payments as well.

“We are also not forgetting retired civil servants, and for that, the state government has set aside RM2mil for the special incentive,” he said in his budget speech at the state assembly sitting here on Tuesday (Nov 27).

Ahmad Faizal added that the state government will introduce food and health cards to 17 million people from the lower income households, poor and hardcore poor in January next year.

“With a budget of RM22mil, the food card will have a value of RM80 per month, while the health card of RM300 per year for every eligible recipient.

“This is the first time such an aid is being provided in Perak, an extension of food boxes provided,” he added.

Ahmad Faizal said the state government would also offer land title holders at new villages, planned villages, Felda and Felcra, as well as Indian villages to apply the extension of land lease to 99 years with a discounted premium payment.

For the orang asli, Ahmad Faizal said the state government would be allocating RM2mil for the community and student excellence programmes.

The programmes, he said, were to enhance the importance of education, prevent social ills, and other issues concerning the community.

“The state government will also introduce an ‘adopted village’ programme where government linked companies (GLCs) and the private sector would focus in carrying out appropriate events to enhance the level of education among the orang asli, as well as to increase their income,” he added.
