PETALING JAYA: Fancy cough syrup in your bubble tea? A company in California has decided to create this concoction.
Labobatory, a bubble tea house located in San Gabriel, California, decided to mix the Ubat Batuk Cap Ibu dan Anak herbal cough syrup with green tea.
And what is this beautiful brew called? Cough Syrup Green Tea.
While the herbal supplement, also known as Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa, is usually eaten with a teaspoon to relief sore throats and coughs, it can be mixed in warm water as a drink.
However this tea house decided to take it to the next level, as part of its holiday menu for the Christmas season.
"We have this cough syrup green tea running throughout the holiday season along with four other holiday themed drinks!" wrote Labobatory in a post on its Facebook page.
"We strive to create unique concoctions that blend premium traditional ingredients and modern twists on ingredients new and old."
And just in case you're wondering, no, Labobatory is not a misspelling. Rather it's a play on the word "boba", the nickname for "bubble tea" in the United States.
The other beverages introduced for its holiday menu are Chocolate Peppermint Milk Tea, White Chocolate Strawberry Milk Tea and Spiced Chocolate.
And oh, don't forget, there's Milk Tea with Taro Cheese Foam (taro is a root plant similar to yam or keladi).
The post received over 200 Likes on Facebook. Many are curious about the drink, and looking forward to try it.
Kenneth Yeo Pq Chew applauded the fact that an America company decided to make the beverage.
"But it's a good idea! They should bring it to SG (Singapore)! (sic)" he wrote.
