PORT DICKSON: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has advised PKR members to put aside their differences to allow Pakatan Harapan to fulfil its pledges to the rakyat.

"Before the general election, we were able to put aside our differences because we knew the country was being destroyed by its former leaders.

"We told ourselves that we had to put aside our differences as only we could initiate change and no one else.

"We realised that if we did not do anything to stop them, the future of this country and our children would be ruined.

"We met and discussed, we fought but made peace, we differed in opinions but we were tolerant.

"Although we may still disagree on some issues, we have put it aside and moved forward as one," the Prime Minister said in a speech at PKR's retreat here on Friday (July 19).

Citing an example, he said it was a historic occasion when Pakatan also agreed to use a common logo in the last general election, and it being given the mandate by the people.

Dr Mahathir, who is Pakatan chairman, said the coalition should remained strong as the public's expectations were high.

"We should not forget what brought the four of us together.

"There is an English saying that success has many fathers and failure is an orphan.

"Now that we have won, we need to realise there are opportunists in our midst, who are only in it for personal gain and self-enrichment, and doing all they can to pit us against each other," he added.

Earlier, Dr Mahathir refused to be drawn into the so-called public spat between PKR president  Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

The Pakatan chairman, who was invited to open PKR's inaugural party retreat post GE-14, said it was none of his business when asked why Azmin was not present.

"It is not my business," he told reporters.

Dr Mahathir also refused to comment on the outcome of police probe on a sex video clip implicating Azmin and a former party member.

"No comment," he said.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador was quoted as saying that the clip was authentic but that the authorities could not verify the identities of the two men in the video.

Among those absent at the opening of the event held in Anwar's parliamentary constituency were Azmin and his supporters including party vice-presidents Zuraida Kamaruddin, Tian Chua and Ali Biju.
