Use MPI to measure poverty rate in the future, says Suhakam

KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) strongly recommends the use of the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) in future five-year development plans to calculate the poverty rate in Malaysia.

The commission said the measurement was more accurate and would robustly calculate the intensity of poverty based on deprivations related to education, health and standard of living via a non-income/consumption-centric calculation of poverty.
