‘US$800k was not a reward’

KUALA LUMPUR: A key witness in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd trial has denied that some US$800,000 (RM3.36mil) deposited into his foreign bank account was a “reward” from fugitive financier Low Taek Jho.

Datuk Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin (pic), 43, who was a former special officer to Datuk Seri Najib Razak, disagreed with a suggestion from defence counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah that the money was intended for him because he had dispensed favours to Low, better known as Jho Low, for many years.
