BAGANUUR, MONGOLIA: For over 10 years, the ger (traditional Mongolian felt tent) kindergarten in the remote coal-mining town of Banganuur did not have toilets, sinks nor running water.
Instead, the 80-odd children aged two to six had to use outdoor pit latrines – a small wooden shack with a deep hole in the ground where waste would pile up.
