KUANTAN: MYNIC is offering a digital marketing training programme to bring offline businesses online towards a global digital economy market.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said efforts had been carried out previously but since the Covid-19 pandemic struck, the application of the Internet in such endeavours had become more relevant than ever.
"We have been doing all of these, but the Covid-19 pandemic has taught us to do it more extensively," said Saifuddin at the #MYNICCARES and Yayasan Pahang corporate social responsibility programme here on Saturday.
He said MYNIC had a strategic role in helping entrepreneurs, especially in the rural areas, to promote their products via e-business.
MYNIC’s chief executive officer Datuk Ts. Hasnul Fadhly Hasan said the programme would target entrepreneurs who are already running their own businesses.
"This will help them expand not only in the local market but reach the international market as well”.
"The programme's run last year saw several entrepreneurs managing to do that and as a result, they increased their revenue," Hasnul said.
Among the modules in the training are website development, search engine optimisation techniques, marketing through social media, and improving content in marketing the business.
According to MYNIC, more than 1,000 participants took part in the training programme from April to December last year.
Hasnul said that for this year, MYNIC aimed to register 1,200 participants from the rural areas as well as people with disabilities.
"We want digital inclusivity. This is important because there are many rural and disabled entrepreneurs who need to bring their businesses online," said Hasnul, adding that MYNIC would double its efforts next year.
To take part in the training programme, participants must have a product or service that could be sold or marketed to customers.
Participants must also have basic Internet knowledge such as email and social media and have the commitment to complete the training.
During the CSR event, MYNIC handed over RM31,500 to Yayasan Pahang to be distributed to the underprivileged in 21 Village Development and Security Committees here.
Hasnul said the CSR programme was not only aimed at providing assistance but also happiness for needy folks.
"The Covid-19 pandemic has not only affected health but also impacted the economic sector as well as individual and household incomes.
"Through this donation, we hope it can at least help to reduce the burden of needy families and show the corporate and government agencies' concern towards their hardship," he said.
Hasnul said MYNIC would continue to implement a holistic corporate social responsibility programme and help to develop human capital for the well-being of the community.
"Appreciation and praise must also be given to Yayasan Pahang, which has received our efforts well and cooperated with MYNIC to realise today's programme," he said.
MYNIC, an agency under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry, is the official registry and registrar for.MY domain in Malaysia.
MYNIC will continue to enable and empower businesses and industries to be part of the digital economy through the development of domain name industry as part of ICT infrastructure in Malaysia.
