All-New Honda Accord raises benchmark for executive sedans

THE Honda Accord has been pretty much a reliable car since debuting back in 1976 with the model having received mostly positive reviews from automotive magazines throughout the years.

The 10th generation 2020 model is no exception. Positioned as the flagship executive sedan in the D-segment, the All-New Accord has already received rave reviews for its design, performance and its premium interior.

From the get-go, one notes from the specifications that this model is completely revamped from its previous generations. With its contemporary sleek visibly streamlined exterior to its 18-inch alloy wheel rims fitted with a resonator that reduces tire noise, this model is completely changed but still offers the best for its category.

The enhanced 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged engine.

Fitted with the 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged engine that is capable of generating a power output of 201PS and maximum torque of 260Nm, the All-New Accord offers more power than a 2.4L engine performance.

With that, it promises a refined, exciting experience by channelling more efficient power distribution in all RPM and greater fuel efficiency, especially with the inclusion of the Sport and ECON driving modes.

But it is the interior that makes a bigger impression with its spacious, luxurious finish.

The latest generation of Honda Accord comes with an eight-inch Advanced Display Audio (ADA) with smartphone connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The All-New Accord makes driving even more pleasurable with combination of luxury and advanced technology features

It also has a wireless charger for the smartphone and a seven-inch interactive thin film transistor (TFT) meter cluster, which shows on-screen driving information that’s easily accessed using buttons located on the steering wheel.

The instrument and decoration panel is redesigned for a premium look that is decidedly refreshing.

Reflecting the premium quality, the All-New Accord also comes with leather seats heightens the sense of appeal of its in-cabin aesthetics. Along with those, it is fitted with an eight-way driver power seat that comes with memory. Whoever is behind the wheel can store two configurations for the seat’s height, tilt, length and positioning, into memory.

Passengers, on the other hand, will find it more convenient using the power seats that are fitted with shoulder switches, which add that special touch of elegance of the seats’ plush comfort.

The in-cabin comfort is heightened with an emphasis on the All-New Accord’s build quality that reduces noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), which also adds to a better travel ambience and increased comfort.

The All-New Accord achieves this by laser-brazing its roof and body side panels for a body that is sealed, smooth with clean structures. In addition, high-performance adhesive (HPA) is applied to strengthen the structure and rigidity of the body, offering greater durability. Spray foam is then used to further insulate the interior from external sounds, thus elevating quietness internally.

The heightened comfort and spaciousness in the cabin is further complemented by a quieter and smoother drive.

Complementing the enhanced interior are features that will take driving to another level. Fitted with a full suite of Honda SENSING technology that includes all eight advanced driver assistive technologies features which are Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), and Auto High-Beam (AHB).

The Accord uses laser brazing for its roof and body side panels that are sealed smooth with clean structures.

The model is equipped with Honda LaneWatch, which eliminates passenger-side blind spots by providing a live feed view on the Accord’s ADA screen. Parking is made easier in this executive sedan, with the Smart Parking Assist System,

These functions recognise the border line of the parking spaces and will engage the automatic steering assist, screen display and provide audio guidance for the driver. And if an obstacle is detected within proximity of the sensors, the auto braking assist will immediately kick in.

It is also fitted with the Multi-view Camera System that gives a 360° view surrounding the Accord and helps put eyes on other potential blindspots when driving or parking.

The 2020 Honda Accord was recently launched in Malaysia on Feb 26 to push the boundaries of the next generation executive sedan with its dynamic performance, stylish and premium design.

During its launch, Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Toichi Ishiyama recounted that since debuting in 1976, the Accord range has received nine full model changes.

“The Accord has always been very well accepted by Malaysians, with encouraging sales recorded for the previous generations, ” he said, adding that there are more than 84,100 units of Accord on Malaysian roads to-date.
