S'wak seeks licence to operate Internet services in rural areas

KUCHING: Sarawak is seeking a licence from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for the state-owned Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) to operate internet services in rural areas.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said he requested the licence during a meeting with Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah in Kuching last week, and the minister had agreed in principle.
