IGP: Raise housing allowance for police

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is appealing to the government to help ease the burden faced by policemen, especially those in the lower ranks, by raising their housing allowance.Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador (pic) said this followed complaints by policemen about having to pay high house rent, especially those posted to big cities.

“I’m not asking for a salary increase, but increase in housing allowance, especially for the lower-ranked.“Those with a salary of RM1,500, if they have to pay RM600 rent a month while their housing allowance is only RM260, it means they have to fork out another RM300.
