Poverty index should be accurate, not be politicised, says Charles Santiago


KUALA LUMPUR: The nation’s poverty line index (PLI) should not be politicised, as it should accurately reflect the present socio-economic reality, says Klang MP Charles Santiago (pic).

“They want to keep the PLI low so the government looks very nice. Best strategy is to have a high PLI number, accept that there’s poverty in the country,” he told reporters during a press conference in Parliament on Thursday (Aug 6).
