COUNTLESS acts of kindness and good deeds have been seen in the stories nominated for Sime Darby Property’s #BERSAMA2.0: Spotlight on Heroes since its launch a week ago.
From volunteers going all out to support vulnerable communities, family members risking their lives in the battle against Covid-19 to friends doing what they can to keep the community going, these stories of hope, resilience and inspiration are exactly what people need now.
Among the nominees is a frequent volunteer-turned-master builder at Epic Homes, who also leads the R&D and training of Orang Asli mothers to make fabric face masks.
She developed a three-day intensive programme which includes one day of “sewing machine basics”. In just three months, she has helped train 15 mothers to produce masks during the pandemic.
Another nominee is an anaesthesiologist at Hospital Sungai Buloh who championed Project Stay Positive but Covid-19 Negative to reduce burnout syndrome and workplace stress for medical frontliners during the peak of the movement control order in April, on top of saving lives.
A selfless man was nominated for consistently extending aid to marginalised communities affected by Covid-19 through his social enterprise that includes the distribution of about 25,000 meals during the movement control order, providing part-time employment opportunities to the vulnerable and initiating digital transformation for micro-entrepreneurs to be economically sustainable.
A submission from a son shared the story of his father’s kindness. He was described by his son as a living symbol of truth and kindness, helping the less fortunate off the street and showing undivided love and passion towards everyone around him regardless of status, colour, gender, religion or race.
To date, many everyday heroes – whether family members, friends or strangers – have been nominated via the Sime Darby Property Group’s co-creation platform “dtoideas”.
Uncovering these inspiring stories to be shared with the entire nation was exactly what the #BERSAMA 2.0 Spotlight on Heroes movement sought out to do and with the support of many who have participated these outstanding individuals now stand a chance to win A Night to Remember with their significant other.
The #BERSAMA 2.0: Spotlight on Heroes campaign will be celebrating 18 deserving heroes at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club Resort in January 2021.
The master and lifestyle developer will be partnering with Auto Bavaria to pick up the winners from their homes in BMWs and have them chauffeured in style to Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club Resort for an amazing night to remember.
“We’re delighted to see the response from the public. The stories submitted nominating community leaders, family members, friends and family are very heartwarming and uplifting, ” said Sime Darby Property Berhad chief marketing and sales officer Gerard Yuen.
“My personal favourites are those that narrate specific actions that their heroes have done. It naturally brings a smile to those who read them.
“We are truly inspired and look forward to seeing more everyday hero stories being highlighted on our co-creation platform dtoideas.
