Close shave for copter pilots


KLANG: A pilot and his co-pilot escaped with light injuries after the helicopter they were on crash-landed near West Port Pulau Indah here while performing a hovering manoeuvre – the second accident involving helicopters in recent months.

Khairudin Dahlan, 73, and his co-pilot Moithu Kutti Mohamad, 53, were flying the two-seater Robinson R66 Turbine during the incident which caused its tail to snap off.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said they received a distress call at around 10am yesterday before a fire engine with seven firemen was dispatched to the scene.
