Increase monitoring of virus variant, says expert


Worried: Prof Lam fears the country may be doing too little genome sequencing on Covid-19 samples.

PETALING JAYA: Based on the recent sharp increase in Covid-19 cases, Emeritus Prof Datuk Dr Lam Sai Kit suspects it may be caused by the different Covid-19 variants already in the country.

Prof Lam, renowned for heading the medical team that discovered the Nipah virus, was fearful that the country was doing “far too little genome sequencing on Covid-19 samples”.
