Sun bear captured after gobbling up villager’s honey

MARANG: After almost three weeks, a retired teacher can now heave a sigh of relief when a wild sun bear that has been digging into and destroying his honeybee log hives was captured by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan).

Ali Yusof, 61, from Kampung Pengkalan Berangan here, said he lost honey worth RM10,000 after 16 log hives in his backyard were destroyed by the animal, which is also known as a honey bear because of its love of honey.
