RM100mil to upgrade sea surveillance system

PORT KLANG: The government has allocated more than RM100mil to upgrade the Malaysian Maritime Sea Surveillance System (Swasla) to curb the entry of illegal immigrants and the risk of Covid-19 infection that they may carry.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said Swasla, run by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), was a 24-hour radar network system used to monitor and detect all types of suspicious boat or vessel movement in the country’s waters.
