KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 64 factories, business premises and construction sites were ordered to close for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) on Friday (July 16), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Deputy Prime Minister said a total of 2,239 factories, 14,551 business premises, 793 construction sites and 293 workers' hostels were inspected.
"We have increased total enforcement, as there have been too many SOP violations at factories and business premises," he said in a statement on Saturday (July 17).
He also announced that 433 individuals were detained on Friday for failing to adhere to the Covid-19 SOP.
"Compound notices were issued to 408 individuals, while 25 others were remanded. We urge the public to comply with the SOP to break the chain of Covid-19 infections," he said.
On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said 39 undocumented immigrants were detained, while four land vehicles were seized on Friday.
"The authorities conducted 890 roadblocks nationwide," he added.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also announced that 990 individuals entered Malaysia on Friday and they have been placed under mandatory quarantine.
"Cumulatively, 249,925 individuals returned to the country since July 24 last year. 9,174 individuals are still undergoing quarantine, 237,454 have been discharged while 3,297 were sent to hospitals for treatment," he said.
