Groundwater storage system needed to sustain padi and rice production, says Agri Ministry


PUTRAJAYA: Groundwater storage systems must be created to ensure continuous supply of water for the padi and rice industry to remain efficient and productive in the event of a water crisis, says the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry.

Water crises, feared not only in Malaysia but globally as well with climate change, could threaten food security in the country, said the ministry's Padi and Rice Regulatory Division director-general Azman Mahmood.
