Female pygmy sperm whale dies after being found stranded on Marang beach

MARANG: An adult female whale estimated to weigh 400kg was found stranded in front of a resort on Pantai Merchang near Gong Balai, here Wednesday (Dec 22) morning with minor injuries to its body.

Head of the Marine Mammals Branch, Fisheries Research Institute (FRI) Rantau Abang research officer Muhammad Amirul Siddiq Abd Rashid said the 3m pygmy sperm whale was found at 9am by members of the public.
