FOLLOWING one of the most talked about tech events this year, that is OPPO INNO Day, OPPO reiterated its business approaches of strengthening its presence in Malaysia through technological innovations, upgraded service design thinking and by supporting local 5G development.

In case you missed the INNO Day, during the event the company unveiled its cutting-edge imaging NPU MariSilicon X, expecting to make its debut in the Find series in the first quarter of 2022.

The company also introduced OPPO Air Glass and its first foldable phone OPPO Find N, the industry-first approach of using a landscape inner display and Flexion Hinge.

These innovations demonstrated OPPO’s ambition of being more than just a smartphone company – as a technology company focused on research and development (R&D), and penetrating the high-end market.

We’ll continue to connect all markets and develop localised strategies and strengthen communication with local users and customers,’ said OPPO APAC president Andy Shi.

“From 2019, OPPO has set aside a budget of 50 billion Chinese yuan (about RM29bil) to develop core technologies in hardware, software and operating systems in addition to 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), big data and other frontier technologies,” said OPPO APAC president Andy Shi.

The brand is also employing other strategies to gain market share in Malaysia, one of which is to bring a revolutionary experience to local users.

“E-commerce is one of the key channels in our business. The outbreak made us rethink and move forward with our e-commerce plans in South-East Asia.

“OPPO doesn’t just see e-commerce platforms as sales channels. Instead, we take advantage of e-commerce platforms to improve our O2O (online-to-offline) experience and provide a better one-stop service for users in Malaysia,” said Shi.

In July this year, the official OPPO e-store opened in Malaysia. OPPO also collaborated with Lazada and Shopee on exclusive product offerings. Just this past September, OPPO selected Lazada as an exclusive e-commerce partner to launch its latest Reno6 Pro on LazMall.

The full customer experience isn’t just tied to the moment of purchase for OPPO loyalists. The brand has so far invested RM6.5mil to build My OPPO Space to provide customers with a one-stop sales and service centre in key locations across the country.

Shi also notes that apart from the physical centres, the launch of My OPPO app allows customers to enjoy the one-stop service – from redeeming vouchers to purchasing OPPO devices.

As for phone repairs, OPPO is collaborating with J&T for its send-in repair services on OPPO’s official website and through the My OPPO app. Users need only register online and drop off their device at any nearest J&T branch.

OPPO strengthens commitment to 5G development

As digital connectivity remains a primary objective under the 12th Malaysia Plan, OPPO as a leader in 5G has developed a series of ground-breaking technologies and is continuously pioneering 5G smartphone development – including the OPPO Find, Reno and

A series – by expanding on its interconnectivity capacity to build an ecosystem that creates a new and exciting user experience for all customers.

According to a report by a leading German research institute IPlytics, OPPO is among the top 10 companies when it comes to the number of declared 5G patent families this year.According to a report by a leading German research institute IPlytics, OPPO is among the top 10 companies when it comes to the number of declared 5G patent families this year.

Since September this year, OPPO has filed over 4,200 families of global patent applications, declared over 1,600 families of 5G standard patents to the ETSI, and submitted more than 5,000 5G standard-related proposals to 3GPP.

During the APAC strategy launch of 2019 in Malaysia, OPPO APAC launched its 5G Landing Project comprising a total of 15 carrier partners, including Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U-Mobile from Malaysia.

Realising the potential of 5G, OPPO’s latest partnership with Ericsson also demonstrates the strides the company is taking for 5G R&D.

The two tech giants launched the OPPO Communication Lab during September this year in Shenzhen, China, to ensure that all of OPPO’s 5G devices enable users to experience the latest 5G innovations that the industry has to offer.

As Malaysia welcomes the era of 5G to future-proof the nation’s connectivity experience, OPPO plays a key role in working alongside Ericsson to elevate the 5G smartphone experience for consumers.

“We have established an integrated technology model that covers five elements – equipment, data, computing, services, and application settings. 5G and AI serve as the infrastructure and core capabilities for the model and integrate these five sectors to create a seamless user experience,” Shi said.

With the deployment of 5G in Malaysia, OPPO is ready to explore more user cases for 5G, more cutting-edge technological features in the upcoming Reno7 series and Find series in 2022.

The brand is steadily proceeding with the integration of e-commerce, after-sale service and other O2O experience so that the users can enjoy OPPO’s products and services in their homes.
