Drug bust: Cannabis worth almost RM150,000 seized by the MMEA Kuala Perlis Maritime Zone.

KANGAR: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Kuala Perlis Maritime Zone foiled an attempt to smuggle in 30kg of compressed cannabis lumps, worth almost RM150,000, in an operation off Kuala Perlis.

Its Kedah-Perlis director, First Admiral Mohd Zawawi Abdullah, said the seizure came about after a special team, acting on intelligence conducted, spotted a boat entering the area at 2.26 nautical miles northwest of the Kuala Perlis estuary, at 1.42am on Thursday.
