SUNGAI PETANI: Jerai Geopark located in Kuala Muda and Yan districts is targeted to become a world-class geopark and recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) by 2025.
Jerai Geopark manager Mohd Amin Ali said so far, only one geopark in the country had been recognised as a Unesco Global Geopark, namely Langkawi, while Mount Kinabalu, Sabah was in the process of obtaining the recognition.
