SUNGAI PETANI: Jerai Geopark in the Kuala Muda and Yan districts is hoping to be recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) as a world-class geopark by 2025.
Its manager Mohd Amin Ali said that so far, Langkawi is the only Malaysian site to have attained global geopark status, while Mount Kinabalu in Sabah is in the process of obtaining it.
