Higher tides forecast nationwide from July 14 to July 17

KUALA LUMPUR: Residents in coastal areas nationwide are advised to be vigilant of the high tide phenomenon (extra high tides) which is expected to occur from Thursday (July 14) to Sunday (July 17).

In a Twitter post, the National Hydrographic Centre stated that the phenomenon occurs due to the influence of the gravitational pull of the moon and sun.

Meanwhile, the centre on its Facebook page advised the public to always monitor the current weather conditions and refer to the relevant agencies for coastal safety information.

"Residents near the coast are advised to be on the alert in the face of this phenomenon. Please monitor the current weather conditions and consult the relevant agencies for information on the safety of coastal areas, " said the centre.
