KL cops yet to hear from organisers of #Turun protest

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have yet to receive any notice from the organisers of the proposed #Turun demonstration.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said police were aware of the proposed gathering, planned to be held in front of the Sogo shopping complex here on Saturday (July 23) afternoon.

"No notice has been given to the police so far.

"We advise the public not to attend this demonstration," he said, adding that action would be taken against anyone involved in accordance with the law.

In a statement, the #Turun committee said the goal of the protest was to ensure that the government does not ignore the price hike issue.

They also expressed their disappointment in politicians, whom they claimed have failed to understand the problems the rakyat are facing.

They are also demanding that ministers take a pay cut as well as for the government to continue with subsidies, control the prices of goods, and solve food security issues.
