Chong: Bill helps ensure elected reps do not abuse rights

THE measures in the anti-party hopping Bill served as a control mechanism and reminder to all elected representatives to not abuse the rights and positions as mandated to them, says MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon.

“We have observed how party hopping destroyed the trust mandated by voters in the last general election. It appears that the interests of society were neglected in the political game of chess resulting in the aspirations of voters being ignored,” he said in a statement.
