Association marks 34th anniversary of ferry terminal bridge collapse with prayers in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: Burning a seven feet tall replica of the Penang ferry, a paper effigy of the King of Hades (Tai Su Yeah in Hokkien) and almsgiving were part of the prayer ceremony held on the 34th anniversary of the collapse of the Sultan Abdul Halim ferry terminal bridge.

The prayer ceremony held for the first time was to remember those who died in the mishap that claimed the lives of 32 and injured more than 1,000 others.
