PETALING JAYA: Brilliant, colourful, controversial are all words that would describe K. Sugumaran, an almost legendary journalist whose column Sugu on Sunday was among the best read in the country in the 1970s and 1980s.

He was knowledgeable in many matters and mentored a host of journalists who went on to become leaders of the industry.
