No decision yet on Pakatan cooperating with other parties in GE15

PETALING JAYA: No decision has been made on the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition working with any other party for the coming general election, says Fahmi Fadzil.

The Pakatan communications chief said the coalition had yet to decide if it would work with any other party to take on the ruling Barisan Nasional-Perikatan Nasional alliance in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said although the Pakatan presidential council met from time to time, it has yet to set a date for discussions on this matter.

“Until now, there are no updates,” he told a press conference at the newly-established Pakatan Media Centre on Thursday (Aug 18).

Fahmi, who is also PKR information chief, was responding to a question of whether Pakatan planned to work with other national Opposition parties such as Malaysia United Democratic Alliance (Muda) or Parti Warisan in GE15.

Meanwhile, Fahmi said PKR has just finalised its new leadership after its internal election and the new office-bearers need some time to adjust to their responsibilities.

On Aug 1, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke was quoted as saying that Pakatan is currently recalibrating its manifesto in tandem with talks on seat allocations with its allies ahead of the next general election.

The Seremban MP mentioned that cooperation with Muda will continue but that DAP would leave it to the latter to decide if it is willing to join PH as the fifth member of the coalition after DAP, PKR, Parti Amanah Negara, and Sabah-based United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko).
