Raja Permaisuri Perak graces launching of purple truck mobile clinic

IPOH: Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim on Sunday (Aug 21) graced the launching of the National Mobile Health Screening Clinic known as the Purple Truck which will provide free cancer screening for rural residents throughout the country.

Her Royal Highness signed a plaque to mark the launching of the Purple Truck accompanied by Badan Amal dan Usaha Isteri Negeri Perak president Datin Seri Aezer Zubin before visiting an exhibition at Astaka Padang Ipoh here.

The truck is about five metres long and also has been modified to serve as a platform to organise awareness and health workshops about cancer and non-communicable diseases in rural and remote areas.

The Purple Truck community programme, which is a collaborative initiative between MCIS Life and the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), will be managed by NCSM's mobile team consisting of trained medical staff, experienced health advisors and healthcare volunteers.

Among the programmes that will be conducted are talks and interactive workshops based on healthy lifestyles, awareness of cancer and non-communicable diseases, general health assessment and screening.

The Purple Truck will embark on a tour with NCSM's trained medical team and volunteers to locations throughout Peninsular Malaysia including Sireh Park in Johor in conjunction with MCIS Life's anniversary celebration. - Bernama
